Yes! I know the real reason for Easter (insert chorus “He is Risen!”) and I know it’s not about flavored chocolates and white bunnies. However, a fashionista like me can’t help but get excited about pastel flavored fabrics and the innocence of pure white ruffles and silk. Maybe it’s because it brings back memories of my childhood Easters where I normally would’ve dreaded those things.

Independence Day, also known as the 4th of July, is quite the festive holiday for Americans as this is a time to celebrate our country’s freedom. It is a festivity that embraces all things that are summer fun: BBQ, poolside drinks, backyard games, and fellowship. However, the most anticipated part of this celebration are the fireworks.

With surprising temperatures in the low 50’s to low 70’s today, it makes me question two things….1. Is my beloved city of Houston going through menopause? 2. How does one transition from winter wardrobe to spring wardrobe engaging both the feel of dark hues so appropriate for the cold, while acknowledging the beaming arrays of color and blossoms that spring graces us with her presence?

One of my biggest fashion peeves is to be dressed for a weather forecast only to find it change drastically throughout the day, killing my fashion vibe. So being a native Houstonian, home to the ficklest weather you’ll ever come across, I’ve learned to layer appropriately yet fashionably.
